Request for Continuance

All requests for continuance should be drafted using the forms the court has provided. 

Do not write a letter to the Court. This is unnecessary, not what the court wants, and takes additional time.

There are 2 templates available in mycase depending on what district you are in:

FAM – Continuance Request – 5th district 

FAM – Continuance Request – 3rd district

If you are in a district other than 3rd or 5th, use the 5th district form as it is non-distinct and covers everything the court generally wants to know.

Third District CSM Magistrate (expedited) hearings – Per 3rd district newsletter on 4/1/25,  ALL requests for continuance in CSM Magistrate hearings should be filed as “request for continuance” NEVER “request for continuance needed judicial approval”.
