He will go anywhere in the state but he charges per mile so it gets to be very expensive the further away from Rochester. Paul serves all documents himself. Cost $75 – $125

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
If you choose to have the Sheriff’s Department serve papers, you will want to get in touch with the Civil Process division of the sheriff’s department. Just try googling (County Name) civil process and that may bring you to a page of the sheriff’s website where they give you information on Civil Process and contact information for the person you need to reach out to. If you can’t find a page like that or can’t find specific contact information, just call the sheriff’s department main number and ask who you need to speak with about having some documents served. Usually, you are provided with an email address, and then you’ll email all the documents you want served, along with information on who is being served, their address, their work schedule (if known). The sheriff’s department usually won’t require payment up front since we are a business. They’ll do the service (or attempts) and then send us an invoice with the aff of service (or non-service).
A few things to consider when having the sheriff department serve – They are usually not super motivated to try hard to get the person served. They will stop by and do their required 4 attempts (or whatever it is) but they aren’t like a private process server who is really going to try to accomplish service because their business depends on having a good record of successful service. If you have an opposing party you think will avoid personal service, using a private process server is probably better.
