Certificate of Representation
A Certificate of Representation (also abbreviated as Cert, Cert of Rep, COR) is the document that officially tells the court and other lawyers that we are the lawyers on the case and must be filed on every single case. EVERY SINGLE CASE!
MN rule 104(a) cover this topic, but the most recent version of our cert of rep can be found in mycase templates.
Listing OPA: Unless we know for certain that the other side has a lawyer DO NOT PUT the person. To know for certain means the other lawyer has called/emailed/sent us a letter saying they are representing that person. A client simply saying “I think my wife hired Attorney John Smith” is not enough for us to include that attorney on our cert of rep.
