Some tips / firm specific information
- Filing Type – This should always be “EfileAndServe” UNLESS you are only eserving a document (which is not filing, and you shouldn’t be looking at this article for guidance.
- Filing Code – you can either click on the drop down box and scroll through or start typing to bring up your code. Can’t file your code? You are either in the wrong file or the code is simplified. For more info on filing codes, see: EFS / Odyssey – Tips for Filing Codes – K|H Law Wiki
- Filing Description – this will generally be an asterisk (*). For documents that both parties may be filing (Cert of Reps, Memos, motions, etc.) you can also include the word Petitioner or Respondent just for more clarity in the register of action. For more info on filing description, see: EFS / Odyssey – Filing Descriptions – K|H Law Wiki
- Client Reference Number – this is the client’s last name
- Comments to Court – you will type public or confidential. 90% of the time it is public. For more information on what may be confidential, see: Confidential Documents & Cover Sheet for Non-Public Documents 11.2 – K|H Law Wiki
- Courtesy Copy – Most of the time you do not put anything here. This basically sends a copy of your filing as a courtesy to whatever email you add. This courtesy copy is not considered true service and is rarely used.
- Document – upload the correct document. You can do this 2 ways – either click on it to browse or open your file explorer and drag and drop.
- IF THERE IS A FILING FEE THAT NEEDS TO BE PAID make sure you add it!
- Service Contacts – All contacts associated with the case will automatically be selected. For more information on adding or removing service contacts, see article above.
- Before submitting – double check all your work, open up the document and make sure you have the correct document and that it is signed (if applicable), ensure you are efiling and eserving and that proper contacts are selected,
